Hillsborough County

Fire-Rescue

This fire-rescue station, built in 2003, is home to an ambulance, fire truck, ladder truck and other fire vehicles as needed.
These emergency vehicles are staffed with paramedics, and the ambulances have been likened to an extension of a hospital emergency room.
From their location just a half-mile from the center of town, they can reach any private home in the Greater Sun City Center area in less than 8 minutes.

Quick Access to Sun City Center Boulevard gives prompt emergency care.
The county paramedics provide high-level medical care and work closely with the Sun City Center volunteer Emergency Squad

The county Rescue ambulances and staff are classified as "Advanced Life Support", whereas the local Emergency Squad teams form a "Basic Life Support" operation.   Emergency Squad dispatchers will call HCFR anytime they sense the participation of an ALS unit from the county is appropriate.

At times, there are needs for additional rescue personnel and equipment.  There is another Hillsborough County Fire-Rescue station (HCFR) just 5 miles away in Ruskin, and additional paramedic personnel in Wimauma just 3 miles to our east.
In fact, the Sun City Center Emergency Squad has received back-up assistance from HCFR from Gibsonton, Riverview and other points according to our need.
The county calls our Emergency Squad for most calls to addresses within the retirement communities of Sun City Center and Kings Point.  Occasionally, HCFR dispatchers request Squad help with more distant addresses.
