We train EMTs, First Responders, Drivers and Dispatchers

Some 400 volunteers from Sun City Center and surrounding communities comprise this Basic Life Support organization.  Funded entirely by donations from the residents and grants from foundations, the Squad operates four ambulances and three vans for transporting patients to and from local hospitals.

When you get your moving boxes unpacked, stop by and visit our central office at 101 Ray Watson Drive.  A tour of our Ready Room, training facility and business offices can be arranged, usually at any regular business hour.  You will see where our Emergency Medical Technicians assemble to respond to calls along with First Responders and specially trained drivers.  Backing them up are dispatchers, computer data entry staff, vehicle maintenance and other administrative personnel -- all volunteers!

Most of our 'runs' are to nearby South Bay Hospital, but we carry patients to and from hospitals in Tampa, Brandon and several in Manatee County ... all at no charge.

If you need a walker, cane or wheelchair, come to the Squad main office and pick one up.  We can check your blood pressure here too.  There is no charge for Sun City Center or Kings Point residents, or those in one of our immediate-area apartment or nursing homes.

We could sure use your talents -- and we provide all in-house training, right up to the level of EMT.  If you can only work nights with us, consider becoming a night dispatcher.

It's a great way to meet new people and make friends with folks who, like you, really want to contribute to keeping Sun City Center the premier senior community it has become.  We'll hope to meet you soon.
